This was a very interactive and fun activity! I loved that the lesson opened with a book, the book was virtual so it was something different rather than read aloud by the teacher. We were able to use several different types of materials to create our very own dot. Everyone was given two coffee filters and a variety of media to choose from. Some media included water colors, markers, crayons, and oil pastels. It was interesting to see what colors blended when water was added and those that did not change. This would be a great activity to start with at the beginning of the year. It would help explain that everyone has artistic capabilities and as the teacher we are able to help the students find their creativity.
Extension Activity: After finishing this activity I would relate it to how students can still be themselves. Just like the crayons and oil pastels did on our coffee filters. Even though the marker and water colors blended together, just like some humans do with their friends, you can still be yourself regardless of the others surrounding you.
